Dear Campers,
Julie and I are looking forward to another camping season
with all of you. We wanted to write to
you to let you know some things that have been developing over the winter.
First to let you know that Springhill Campground has lost a
very helpful and wonderful friend.
Cloyde Tressler passed away from cancer on 1/24/2010.
He will be missed so much, as a great friend and as a huge help with all
of our many projects around here.
Next I would like to cover some of last years major problems
at the campground:
1) Motorized
vehicles not following our existing rules, so we have new rules for this
year. We must have a copy of your proof
of insurance on any motorized vehicles (Golf carts, mini bikes, go carts, etc.) You will also have to have your lot # on them
in 3” numbers so that we will know where to go when we have issues.
2) Guest
hours - If you have guests who are visiting you and not paying in advance to
stay all night, they need to leave the campground for the night by .
We don’t have the time or manpower to track down and collect the next
day for guests that stayed all night, and this isn’t fair to us or the campers
who pay for their guests. We will be
trying harder to enforce our long standing rule that guests pay in advance to
swim, fish, or stay all night.
3) Electric
usage has skyrocketed as we have gotten better electric to the lots, so we have
to change one policy so far. Beginning
this season, any refrigerators or freezers outside your camper will cost an
additional $50 per season per item. This
fee will be due April 1st of each season.
4) Catch
and release fishing has been on the honor system, and we would like to keep it
that way, but we will be forced to change it or do away with it all together if
we keep having campers keep their catfish and bass without paying in advance to
fish. Campers are allowed to keep
crappie and bluegill without paying, but not catfish or bass. Please help us to keep this policy by not
abusing it.
5) Animals
not on leashes. This is a state law and
we have to enforce it or risk being fined by the state. All of you who have animals you bring to the
campground know we have tried to get you to keep them on leashes at all
times. This is not working, we have the
same problem over and over. So, this
year we will begin the 3 strike rule. If
our staff sees your animal loose, we will give you a strike. 3rd strike and you will not be
allowed to bring that animal back to the campground for the balance of the
season.
6) Past
due balances. Julie and I want to spend
our time on making this a better campground, not making phone calls and driving
to homes to try to collect money owed to Springhill. Camping is a recreational activity, not a
necessity. We have made great strides in
this area, but still have issues.
Enclosed you will find this year’s price sheet which includes an
alternative two payment plan.
New for 2010,
see the enclosed price sheet for options of adding people who don’t qualify fffor
your seasonal onto your agreement for the season. Dean Hill is helping us to make a wwebsite for
Springhill and we will have a facebook site as well. Julie’s major projects iiinclude a thrift shop
and giving the pavilion area a face lift.
Ron’s major projects are fffinishing the pool upgrade and new electrical
for lots 45 – 50. Also enclosed are new
iiinformation sheets that we need filled out and turned in when you begin
camping, we uupdate them each year so we have the right info.
In closing,
thank you all for a great season last year, and we look forward to an even
bbetter one this year.
Sincerely,
Julie, Ron, and
the Staff of Springhill Campground
